Migration to the Teamcenter for Simulation data model is a two-step process:
When you open the data, simulation files created in previous releases of NX are migrated to the NX 5 file structure. See Migrating existing data to NX 5 for more information.
When you save the migrated files, the data is written to the Teamcenter for Simulation data model. During this migration, new item revisions are created for the idealized part, FEM, and Simulation files.
Note that until you save your model, the file structure has been migrated, but the data is still stored in the previous data model. When you first save migrated data, the Save As dialog box is displayed, and you are prompted to provide specify the part name, number, and revision level for the new item revisions.
Data model migration using the traditional Teamcenter data modelData migration using Teamcenter Integration with the traditional data model is seamless; however, the software may need to create new datasets (such as CAEGeom or CAEMesh), depending on the respective Teamcenter versions. Migrated data is placed under the same item revision when you save it, overriding any unchanged datasets.
